In Nashik, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) gathered over 200,000 Ganapati idols and 177 tonnes of puja waste donated by devotees during the Ganapati immersion on Anant Chaturdashi. The NMC is focused on promoting eco-friendly practices to prevent river pollution, encouraging devotees to offer their idols to the NMC instead of immersing them in the Godavari river. The NMC designated 80 locations across the city for Ganapati idol immersion, including natural spots along the Godavari river and its tributaries, as well as artificial ponds in six divisions. Devotees now have the option to dip their Ganapati idols in the river or ponds before donating them to the NMC. This year, the NMC collected 5,000 more idols than the previous year, totaling 79,000 idols in the Panchavati division and 45,000 idols in the Nashik Road division. The remaining idols were collected from other divisions such as Nashik East, Nashik West, Satpur, and Cidco.
